Welcome to The Skull Shed, my crafting and creative space (and also the home of my ornamental skull collection).
In The Skull Shed, I specialise in made to measure cushions, for anywhere from campervans, window seats, outdoor furniture, summer houses, antique chairs, anywhere that needs a cushion! I also complete small upholstery works and general, weird and wonderful sewing commissions.
A few years ago, I was asked to make some custom cushions for a friends camper van conversion and I haven't stopped since!
These friends then became VanLife Conversions and they come to me with all of their made to measure cushions and curtains, which are all different in sizes and fabric choices.
Foam and fabric can all be supplied, or perhaps you've got a cushion that you'd like re-covered.
If you're starting from scratch, I would need sizes, or I could come to visit (if you're local!) to take measurements. Then we would discuss foam and filling types. I normally work with foam in different depths, covered in a poly wadding to soften the corners and then the fabric. I'm more than happy to suggest fabrics etc and even get samples if needed. I then make the cushions up, with a zip across the back panel and either deliver them to you (if you're local!) or you can collect from me in Chelmsford, or I can send to you with a courier.
It's a very simple process and I'm happy to have a chat about a project before anything goes ahead!
I was lucky enough to be approached by The Guild of Master Craftsmen and then accepted in January 2023. I see this as a massive achievement and I'm so proud to show their emblem.
I also LOVE making scatter cushions! These are upholstery grade fabrics, back and front and some people would say they are ‘a little different’. I like the gothic style, with a few skulls thrown in and any design that is a bit out there!
